When will the PressHop app be launched?
PressHop is now live and growing fast, with successful launches in eight major cities across the UK and USA, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Leeds, New York, and Los Angeles.
We’ve already welcomed over 20,000 Hoppers to the platform.. Everyday citizens capturing real, powerful stories and connecting directly with the press
What if I don't get paid for my content?
No need to fret, you always get paid before your content goes anywhere.
Here’s how it works - the press can’t download, or use your photo, video, scan, or story until they’ve paid for it. Simple as that.
Plus, every piece of content you upload is protected with a PressHop watermark while it’s live on the marketplace — keeping your work safe, secure, and visible only after the money’s in.
How much commission does PressHop take?
We take a 20% commission (plus the usual processing charges) on any earnings you make from selling content or completing tasks on PressHop.
But here’s the good bit: if you’re a professional photographer, journalist, or lucky enough to be one of our first 1,000 Founder Users, you only pay 15%. Because early birds deserve a little extra love.
Are you only launching in London, or expanding across the UK too?
We launched PressHop in London where the stories never stop.
Since then, we’ve grown fast and are now LIVE in 8 cities across the UK and USA. And this is just the beginning.
We’re set to expand into India this December, followed by Canada, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Brazil in early 2026. The response has been phenomenal; not just from the UK, but from everyday citizens around the world who want to be part of something bigger.
I am a professional photographer - can I use PressHop to sell content to the press?

Is my identity truly protected on PressHop?
Absolutely. 100%, no exceptions!
As a registered user, your identity is always safe and protected. Everything you upload is completely anonymous and discreet — no real names, no real profile photos.
Instead, you’ll select from computer-generated names and avatars, keeping your true identity hidden at all times.
At PressHop, privacy isn’t optional — it’s built in from the ground up.
How can I increase my earnings on PressHop?
Easy. Just a few smart moves can help you boost your earnings:

What kind of insurance cover does PressHop have?
At PressHop, we take your safety, security, and peace of mind seriously.
We’re fully covered with a comprehensive insurance package that includes:
Public Liability Insurance — up to £5,000,000, protecting against any third-party claims.
Cyber Insurance — up to £500,000, ensuring your data and transactions stay safe and secure.
Professional Indemnity Insurance — up to £1,000,000, covering any claims related to the content and services we provide.
Are there any restrictions on what I can upload?
Yes while we love a great story, there are clear standards every Hopper must follow.
At PressHop, we only accept content that is authentic, respectful, and law-abiding. All uploads go through a three-layered verification process —
Metadata checks to validate time and location. AI screening for deepfakes, nudity, AI-generated material, and GDPR compliance, and human editorial review to ensure content is accurate, ethical, and newsworthy.
Content that violates our strict rules including anything illegal, offensive, staged, AI-manipulated, or in breach of privacy laws will be immediately removed.
Stick to the facts, respect the boundaries, and keep it real - that’s the PressHop way.
Do I own my content and how long do I get paid for?
Absolutely. You remain the owner of your content.
When you upload any content and story on the PressHop app, you’re granting us a licence to market and sell your content to publishers and broadcasters on your behalf.
If you choose the Shared Licence option, your content stays live on the marketplace and can be licensed by multiple publishers — and each time it’s purchased, you get paid again.
As long as your content remains published and continues to attract buyers, you’ll keep earning — no limits, no expiry.
With PressHop, you keep the rights — and you keep reaping the rewards.
When do I get paid for my content?
As soon as your content is sold, your earnings are sent directly to you through our payment gateway partner, Stripe — typically within 2 to 7 days.
Once you download the PressHop app, simply complete a quick onboarding with Stripe to link your bank account — and you’ll be set to receive payments on the go every time your content is uploaded and sold.
Fast, secure, and hassle-free...just the way it should be.
How do I get notifications?
When the press broadcasts a task, our platform uses advanced geolocation tracking to send notifications first to Hoppers within a 0-1 mile radius.
The system aims to notify up to 7 Hoppers nearby to avoid crowding. If fewer than 7 Hoppers accept the task, the radius automatically expands incrementally from 1-2 miles, then 2-3 miles, continuing up to a maximum of 5 miles until 7 Hoppers have accepted.
Once the maximum number of 7 Hoppers accept the task, it doesn’t disappear completely; instead, it moves into the background and is no longer visible or available for new Hoppers to accept. However, it remains live for those who have already accepted, allowing them to complete and upload their content.
How do I add friends / colleagues to my Hopper Army?
Easy! Just open the Menu in your PressHop app, tap "Refer a Hopper," then hit "Invite Your Friends." A pop-up lets you share your unique referral code with friends, family, and colleagues in just a few taps.
Whenever someone signs up with your code, they join your Hopper Army and here’s the kicker: you earn a 5% lifetime commission on everything they make. For example, if your Army earns £10,000 in a month, you pocket £500. No limits, no expiry, every month straight to your bank account.
Want to keep track? Head to "My Earnings" in the app and tap "My Commission" to see how much your Hopper Army has earned and what you’ve made. It’s fully transparent, super easy to track, and all yours to grow.
Think of it as your very own side hustle — the bigger your army, the bigger your earnings.
What should I do in an emergency?
Your safety comes first. Always!
If you find yourself in an emergency situation, the first and most important thing to do is stop filming, remove yourself from any danger, and call 999 immediately.
PressHop is about capturing the moment, but never at the risk of your own wellbeing. You matter more than any story.
How do I track my earnings and commissions?
You can easily track your earnings right from the app. Just open the Menu and tap “My Earnings.”
Here, you’ll find two tabs: Payments Received and Commission Earned.

Under Payments Received, see all the payments you’ve gotten so far, plus any pending amounts.

Under Commission Earned, track how much commission you’ve made, how many Hoppers are in your army, and their total earnings.
Everything is fully transparent, updated in real-time, and designed to keep you in control of your income.
How do tasks work? Please explain!

Tasks are quick, paid assignments from publishers who need specific photos or videos for their newsrooms.
Here’s how it works 👇
(1) Check the “Tasks” section in your app. You’ll see available tasks near your location.
(2) Accept a task that interests you or that you can reach quickly (tasks go fast!).
(3) Head to the location, capture what’s happening - take clear, original photos or videos that show the full story.
(4) Upload your content through the Manage Task section on your Tasks
(5) Once your content is purchased by the publisher, you get paid instantly for completing the task💸
Think of it as real-world news gigs...simple, quick and rewarding. The faster you act, the better your chances to earn! 🚀
What type of content sells best?
Publishers love real, raw, and relevant content...the kind of things happening around you that others would want to see or read about.
Here’s what usually does well:
📰 Breaking news: Accidents, fires, police incidents, transport delays, or anything sudden and unexpected.
🎤 Public events: Protests, rallies, concerts, festivals, celebrity appearances, or sports celebrations.
🌧️ Weather & environment: Floods, storms, heatwaves, or unusual natural events.
🏙️ Community stories: Local issues, street scenes, or moments that reflect real life in your area.
🤳 Viral-worthy moments: Something funny, heartwarming, or surprising that makes people stop scrolling.
Basically, if it makes you say “wow, that’s interesting”, it’ll likely interest a publisher too. Just remember: keep it real, first-hand, and news-worthy, and your content will sell like hotcakes 🚀
How do I make money on the app?

There are two easy ways to make money on PressHop 👇
Upload your own photos or videos - Whenever you see something newsworthy, an accident, protest, celebrity sighting, or even a community event, just capture it, upload it to the app, and add a short description of what’s happening. If a publisher likes your content, they’ll buy it directly through PressHop, and you’ll receive 80% of the payment within 24 hours💰
Complete local tasks from publishers - Publishers often post specific assignments in your area, for example, “Get photos of the protest at Trafalgar Square” or “Need videos of the accident in Wembley.” Simply accept the task, complete it before the deadline, upload your content, and get paid once approved.
It’s simple: See it. Snap it. Sell it. Sorted. The more active you are, the more you earn 🚀
How do I connect my bank account on the app?

We’ve partnered with Stripe, one of the world’s most trusted and FCA-regulated payment gateways, used by millions of businesses across the UK, USA, and worldwide

(1) Go to the Menu in the app.
(2) Tap Manage payments with Stripe.
(3) Add and connect your bank account details.
The whole process takes just 1–2 minutes and is fully secure. Once connected, your payments will be sent automatically and instantly whenever your content sells. No delays, no worries, just seamless earnings 🔒💰

I can't see the content I have uploaded?
All the content you’ve submitted is visible in the Feed (bottom Footer Menu). You can easily track its status:
🔍Under Verification – Our team is reviewing it.
✅ Approved – It’s verified and ready for the marketplace.
📰Published – It’s live and available for publishers to buy.
❌Not approved – If it doesn’t pass verification (for example, shared elsewhere, irrelevant or AI generated), it won’t appear in the marketplace.
If you’ve uploaded content as part of a Task, you can find it in Footer Menu > Task > Manage Tasks.
Everything is transparent, so you can track every post, every step, and every pound or dollar you earn💸
Why can't I see any tasks today on the app?
Tasks are broadcast directly by publishers when they need specific photos or videos - for example, an event, accident, or breaking news story. Tasks appear in the “Tasks” tab on your app when they’re live.
📅 Availability: Tasks come and go throughout the day depending on what’s happening in the newsrooms. Sometimes there may be several active tasks in your area (like London or New York), and other times none, it all depends on publisher demand at that moment.
📸 While You Wait: Even if there aren’t any live tasks, you can still earn! You can upload your own original photos and videos of anything newsworthy, local, or shocking that you have witnessed - incidents like protests, unusual events, celebrity sightings, community issues, traffic jams, or weather incidents.
Your footage doesn’t need to come from a task. If it’s authentic, first-hand, and relevant, it can sell. So keep your phone ready… the next story could be happening right in front of you🚀
Why is my content not approved?
That’s a great question. Let me help 💛
When your photo isn’t approved, it’s never personal. It’s just that it may not meet the PressHop publishing criteria that newsrooms expect.
Here’s what we check for every time you upload:
📸Originality matters – The content must be your own, not taken from social media, Google, or anywhere online. Publishers only buy authentic, first-hand footage.
🚫 No AI or deepfakes – Our AI powered verification system automatically rejects anything that appears AI-generated, edited, or manipulated in any way.
🗞️News value counts – Publishers want newsworthy content - real events, incidents, protests, accidents, weather, community issues, celebrity sightings, or anything unusual happening in real life.
✅ Tip: Always ask yourself, “Would this picture or video interest a newspaper journalist or a news reader?” If the answer is yes, you’re on the right track
How do I add images or videos on the app? Is there a limit?
It’s super easy to add a video on PressHop 🎥📱
When you open the app, it takes you straight to the camera screen. From there, you can shoot a video, take a photo, or even upload an existing one from your gallery.
You can add up to 10 pieces of content at once!

✍🏼Add a short story or context (what happened, where, when).

👍🏼Tap Submit and your content goes for verification.

I don't want my current location to be shared. Can you help?
Totally understandable 👍
If you don’t want your current location to be shared, you can easily turn off location sharing in your phone’s settings at any time.
📍However, we do recommend keeping it enabled and here’s why. PressHop uses your location only to send you nearby tasks when publishers need photos or videos from your area. If your location is off, you’ll still be able to upload content, but you won’t receive any local or paid tasks from publishers.
So while it’s completely your choice, keeping location on helps you earn more and stay first in line for nearby breaking stories! 🚀
My payment hasn't arrived. What do I do?
We totally understand how important it is to get paid on time 💸
Here’s how it works.
Once your content is sold, PressHop automatically processes your payment within 24 hours.
However, our global payment partner Stripe (FCA-regulated) sometimes takes 2–4 working days to complete the transfer due to their internal banking processes.
You can track everything in real time by going to Menu > My Earnings, where you’ll see all your payment details, including the amount, status, and expected payment date. It’s completely transparent so you’ll always know where your money is and when it’s due to arrive. 💰
Can international students use PressHop?
Unfortunately, international students on a Student Visa cannot work on PressHop or any other gig economy platform because it’s considered a form of self-employment or business activity, which is not allowed under UK visa rules.
This restriction also applies to roles like Uber or Deliveroo, where you work as a self-employed sole trader, manage your own time, and handle your own taxes.
We’d love to have you as part of the community though you’re always welcome to use the app, explore, and learn how PressHop works until your visa status allows participation. 💛
How does the payment process work on PressHop?
When your content is sold, PressHop automatically deducts a small commission:
20% for regular (amateur) Hoppers
15% for PRO Hoppers (professional photographers / journalists)
In addition, Stripe’s processing fee for handling the secure transaction is also deducted from the payment.
✅ Example: If your content sells for £100, PressHop’s commission (20%) = £20, Stripe's processing fee (let's say) ≈ £0.90, and you receive £79.10, paid instantly within 24 hours of the sale.
Everything happens automatically and transparently. You can view all your transactions anytime in Menu > My Earnings.
How does the referral code work?
The referral code is only meant to be used if someone has personally referred you to join PressHop.
So, if a friend or family member invited you through the “Refer a Hopper” section of the app, they’ll have sent you a unique referral code with their name attached. You simply enter that code during signup and this links you to their “Hopper network,” so you both stay connected and they get credit for inviting you.
If no one referred you, you can just skip the referral code section — it’s completely optional! 💛
How do I change the location / time?
No! You can’t manually change the location or time of your content either on your phone or within the PressHop app📍
This is a key part of our first-level verification system to make sure every photo or video was genuinely captured on your device, at the real time and place it happened. It helps us keep PressHop authentic, secure, and trusted by publishers.
If you have a valid reason for wanting to adjust or clarify the location or timing (for example, if the GPS was off or you uploaded later), please mention it in the description when submitting your content, or reach out to us via chat, WhatsApp (+44 7488 600 786), or email (hello@presshop.co.uk) so we can review it manually 💛
Do you offer any promo codes for new users?
We don’t have promo codes right now mainly because PressHop is completely free to use! 🎉
However, we do run special promotions through our amazing partner brands like ProGrad, StudentBeans, Sweatcoin, and others from time to time. These partners occasionally offer exclusive PressHop rewards or bonuses, so it’s worth keeping an eye out 👀
